Rain, Rain go away...

It turned into a quiet day for me. Since it rained all night in Conques with lots of lightening and thunder; I decided to jump on the road today and off the GR. I got dumped on about an hour into the ride in the middle of nowhere. My rain gear kept me pretty dry, but biking in the rain sucks especially when you are by yourself. Some car going the opposite direction honked at me as it past, I was thinking it was mistaken identity, but a half hour later the same car going my direction honked again and pulled over. It was Michel and Jän coming back from Conques. Michel had offered to pick Jän up and take him to the train station. It was great to see them and they snapped pictures of me in my rain garb. I miss them, especially Michel already.

I'm staying by myself at a old Chateau outside of Decazeville. The town looks like an old steel factory town whose mill has been closed for some time. The Chateau is a bit in need of repair but a middle-aged couple seem to be trying to run it as a hotel. I got to town as the rain stopped about 10:30am but the town had nothing to offer after staying in these cute, quaint towns for the last week. I checked in about 2 and have just been hanging around looking at email, showering and making some adjustments on my bike. The good news if that the woman offered to do my laundry and I can have dinner here which sounds delish, salad, omelette with cheese and mushroom and desert.

I'm staying about 3 miles off the Camino since this was the only place I could find to book as I needed to send my bag someplace. I'm missing the energy of the pilgrims and Camino as well as what's left of the group. I'm planning to get back on the GR/Camino tomorrow and maybe reconnect with the group along the way or in Flagnac tomorrow, but I have finally decided to send my bag ahead to Sain Jean Pied de Port as this has been a constant struggle deciding how far and where I'm staying ahead.

It turned into a sunny afternoon here, so good thoughts for tomorrow's weather.
