It's been said that your Camino or pilgrimage starts at you door when you leave home. That sense that you are going someplace to do something important at least for yourself. Today I traveled from home to Le Puy all in one step. With the bike along, it didn't make sense to try and get into Paris or Lyon to a hotel, so after about 28 hrs after leaving home, I'm here. The bike certainly made for a difficult journey made even more so by cancelled trains in France due to a labor strike. My train out of Paris was cancelled and had to take 3 overcrowded trains
with standing room only. I got some smiles, help and jeers/leers as I lugged my bike from place/place and I'd have to say I'm a bit worse for the wear.
Le Puy is beautiful with narrow cobblestone street and old buildings. I went out for a walk up the steep street to the cathedral and saw the enterance for
Pilgrims. I will go back in the morning for the passport that gets stamped along the way and a blessing. I saw some pilgrims sitting on the cathedral steps just watching the sunset and wondering what lays in front of them. Me too...
Bon Nuit!
