It's our full groups last day together. Michel and Jän are leaving; Michel's daughter is picking him up tonight and Jän is leaving in the morning. We are on Conques pronounced "Conk" which is a historic mideval town that's a bit of a tourist destination without cars allowed. That being said, it really old school nice and the cathedral is pretty amazing. There is s mass for pilgrims tonight followed by an organ concert. I think we will try and go.
We are staying I the Abbey next door to the cathedral with many pilgrims staying in group rooms. I asked for and reserved a small private room. It's the best of both worlds. I get the larger pilgrim experience with a private room to sleep in. There is a group pilgrim dinner tonight and many familiar faces that have shown up here that I will enjoy catching up with.
We took group pictures at the cathedral and exchanged emails then had a 2 hour group lunch and said goodbye to Michel. He was the tour guide and the rock of the group. Calling ahead for reservations, arranging meals and helping to navigate the way. I will really miss him. Pablo is the soul of the group, soft spoken and thoughtful speaking with few words. He wasn't sure about how far he would go, but he has realized the Caminio experience and now wants to go all the way to Santiago. He too has realized much of the experience is connection to the world and connections with people now wants the complete experience.
