The Pilgrims are coming, the Pilgrims are coming...

Well, what a day! I was about to wine (whine) about lugging my bike up and down stairs in train stations some more, but somehow it was part of the journey... I'm HERE!!! St. Jean Pied de Port! Man, the excitement just rose throughout the day. It started in Bayonne where I had two hours between trains and I caught a glimpse of a guy with a backpack and shell attached which is the traditional "cup" for Pilgrims..... Then another and another.... All of a sudden, this small train station was filled with over 100 Pilgrims waiting for the St Jean train. There were so many, only about half of us made it on the two car train; the rest had to be bused. What a rush....surrounded by people all doing Camino. We were instantly connected to one another sharing stories of how we came to be here, where we were from and so on with energy building the whole way. Bike is assembled and some adjustments needed. I visited the Pilgrim office where everyone in line was again exchanging stories and now have my passport and shell for the journey. I now know the bike was part of coming here...More tomorrow ;-)
Buen Camino

Dave
